The Balletto di Bronzo was born in Naples an idea of \u200b\u200bthe future of DJ "for you young " Raffaele Cascone that with drummer Giancarlo Stinga , bassist Michael Cupaiuolo or singer and guitarist Mark Cecioni offers music beat at the foundations of Italian NATO under the name "Wild Beaters." Cascone however, soon abandons his companions and they replaced him with former "stone faces" Lino Ajello . Finally, the quartet completes its metamorphosis, adopting the name Art Balletto di Bronzo, inspired by the popular picture of Edward Wadsworth 1940, "The Bronze Ballet .
Thus stabilized, the newborn training, arrived in 1969 to his first recording contract with ARC , historic RCA label pilot among whose ranks had also fought the Rokes, Patty Pravo, Dino and Lucio Dalla.
Onset makes headlines e l'indiavolato 45 giri " Neve calda " (promosso due volte in RAI alla trasmissione "Chissà chi lo sa" e tradotto anche in spagnolo) la traghetta in meno di un anno all'etichetta madre RCA .
A fronte di tanta considerazione, il " Balletto " rilascia così un secondo singolo, " Si Mama Mama" / Meditazione " (1970) e finalmente pubblica in maggio il suo primo e memorabile album, " Sirio 2222 ": disco ricercato non solo per motivi collezionistici, ma anche perché rappresentativo di un modus tutto particolare di traghettare il beat nelle forme più creative del rock .
The album is amazing for a good dynamic for the cohesion of the group that returns every single piece in a fantasy almost shameless. From the first song "A place ", the musicians demonstrated to have an edge over their contemporaries: it co-exist in fact a wise use of rhythmic breaks that seem to multiply the structure of songs, repeated grafts and harmony that makes all songs exclusive and never rams.
Another good example of this contamination progressive "avant la lettre" is the song "Eh eh ah ah " in which an unexpected intervention of harmonic fringes and shares no apparent reason, a low fluid structure that recalls the blues of Canned Heat .
There are then the volcanic strutturatissima " Hot Snow," the classical "Meditation " jewel pre-progressive and psychedelic suite " Mission Sirius 2222" with its nine minutes and a half carves out a place of his own in the post-beat Italian.
The rest is a rock sincere, well structured and without concessions to the obvious: commendable voice Marco Cecioni and the inexhaustible and colorful battery Jenkins Stinga . This, of course, without diminishing the ubiquitous work of bass and guitar finish and claim the rest of the tonal structure. The production, however, is still thin and listless: a clear sign that the major American in the group sensed a great opportunity, but without committing too much in recognizing the artistic value and, above all, without giving a ' appropriate promotion.
The album then goes completely unnoticed and, Even more annoying for a beginner band, the musicians will not be recognized no "credit" in the liner notes, except for a photo taken in the studio.
Paradoxically, the names of the authors of the songs are actually allocated to people outside the project ( Della Bruna, Simonelli, Gioieni, Iarrusso, Umiliani ) but today we know that the real composer of the music were the only Ajello, Stinga and Cupaiuolo .
Another thing that is certain is that the name of Piero Umiliani was approached to " you wake up with me " in quanto quel brano fu scelto per i titoli di coda del film di Mario Bava " Cinque bambole per la luna d'agosto " (1970) per cui lo stesso Umiliani compose la colonna sonora. Non è dato però di sapere in che termini vi mise mano. Fortunatamente, malgrado lo scarso impatto commerciale, le idee del Balletto avevano attecchito nella Napoli più avanguardistica, attirando in particolare l'attenzione del vecchio amico Gianni Leone che, con il suo ingresso nella band, la portò ai livelli più alti del progressivo Italiano con il successivo trentatrè giri " Ys ".
